If I could do my wedding day over again, I’d steal so many ideas from Sean and Melissa’s beautiful Bodega Bay wedding. It’s so easy to be excited when your best friend is getting married, but when your best friend gets married and you happen to be a wedding planner.. you kind of lose your shit. And I indeed did. When Melissa and Sean got engaged I literally screamed for 5 minutes straight. (Ask my husband, his ears are still in recovery). I don’t believe in soulmates but they’re as close as you can get if you ask me. Melissa is this wild child of a beauty and Sean, while eccentric in his own ways, brings such a stable, calming presence to their relationship; they’re seriously something special.

With all of that in mind, I already knew that their wedding day would be incredible. And while they didn’t really have a choice, I was so humbled when they asked me to be their wedding designer. I can’t really take credit for any of the planning because so many of their wedding day details were a product of their own wild creativity. If you weren’t there, you seriously missed out!

I have too many favorite moments of that day, but a few that stand out for making me laugh, cry, and/or scream were:

Watching their first look take place on the beach with Melissa’s dreads flowing in the wind
Their personalized vows accompanied by a unity beer (instead of unity candle) ceremony
The Harambe photo that snuck its way into their remembrance photo table
